CM91: Reduce Your Carbs

Removing the carburetor was a nice, easy job.  Like a pleasant warm up jog before the marathon.  Followed Clymer's and had it off within minutes.

Some Rookie Wrench observations...

Clymer's said to loosen the drain screw and catch the gas as it came out of the float bowl.  I thought that the rubber hose coming out of the bottom was where it drained out, but actually the gas will flow right out of the screw hole.  Turns out the rubber hose coming out the bottom actually leads up to a little pipe inside the bowl.  If too much gas gets into the bowl, it will drain out of this pipe and through the rubber hose instead of going into the engine itself.  Brilliant!

Clymer's said to plug the fuel lines with golf tees after removing them from the carb.  But I had much better luck just clamping them off.  Seems like it would have been pretty messy trying to jam a golf tee up into the hose without spilling a lot of gas in the process.

It's handy to label which fuel line goes to the main tank and which goes to reserve once you pull them off the carb.  But even if you don't, one line should have a raised surface so its actually easy enough to tell them apart later on.
