Ivy: Friday Session

A good long Friday afternoon session and went through a laundry list of little jobs.

  1. I'm still amazed by how effective Evapo-rust is.
  2. Got 1 new 2.50x18 Battlax plus 2 new IRC 2.50x18 tires for $25 on eBay (Marty in the sunset)
  3. Painted
    1. brake stay - black
    2. battery cover - ivory
    3. steering stem plastic hood - ivory (after fixing the crack with E600 epoxy)
    4. stem nut washer - black
  4. Had intended to flip the rear brake arm from an upward orientation to downward (which I thought was the norm), but in the down position, it seems to knock against the exhaust mount.  Odd.  But since I had everything off, I ended up sending it for an Evapo-rust bath
  5. Unboxed
    1. new head cover - one fin had a small crack
    2. new 44" brake cable for low bar - too short on the current bar, as expected
  6. The front brake arm had heavy corrosion/damage on the outward side, decided to do a little experiment and paint it metallic.
  7. Verified the cushion mounts are all 10mm x 1.25 fine thread
  8. Installed the new banjo bolt into the oil pipe pump.  Still not 100% clear how the oil is supposed to flow through, though.
