Changed Roxy's oil. Dripped oil everywhere because I forgot to put down a cardboard work area. Off to a great start.
Got the new 10mm axle nuts from Ohio Cycle, which should have been a no-brainer. But while the rear axle took the new nut with no problem, it was very tight on the front. I gave it about a half turn and checked the threads and it was definitely taking off material from inside the nut.
But I put the rear axle nut on the front and that fit fine. So what's up with the new nuts?? Decided not to force it and left the old one on for now.
Also got the tank and seat rubber mounts. The tank mount was perfect, but the seat mount was clearly made for the Middle Style frame with the bolt hole (despite what the parts guide said). To rub salt in that wound, it was a $15 part.
Figured the new cheap lower stem nut for Viola would be another easy win. First off, I found the plastic was nearly cracked in two. Was gonna complain, but the pictures clearly showed the crack. The seller just didn't mention anything about it in the description. Lame.
Then to top that off, the nut itself screwed down easily by hand, but only about halfway down. Then it got very, very tight. Granted, I was turning it by hand, but it should turn easily all the way to the bottom. Gonna try the pin wrench tomorrow to see if it's just hitting a small tight spot and needs to get past it.
The only thing that did work was that Astrid started up on the second kick. Old Faithful...
